aftermath: a study in post war silence

the bombs have stopped falling. the gunfire has died down. the fires have been extinguished.  the tanks and planes have moved on. those once living lay dead. all that remains is the deafening sound of silence, and the scavengers that pass over it all.  for the victorious side cannot truly be called victors. nor should the victims be remembered merely as collateral in the unfortunate game of war.

these photos depict the mind shattering calmness in the aftermath of absolute chaos destruction and murder.  the silenced cries and screams of the dead, the buildings and cultural monuments razed into nonexistence give the viewer a false serenity. as false as the idea that war brings peace.

may the living give a moment of their thoughts for the dead.

love odie,

and odie mama.
