birds the word. and so is bevy, brood, bouquet…

odie loves birds. not to hunt or to eat. but to admire in all their living
okay...maybe to eat. and mostly just chicken. not really turkey.
so when he asked me why a group of geese is called a gaggle and why a
group of crows
elicits the word "murder", i couldnt tell him and thought it best to
open the
books/internet and do a bit of my own research.
the following blog entry is part one of the unique/complex list
of names
for different bird gatherings plus pics of the birds enjoying each
other in the wild.
we still dont know "the why" as to the unique group names but feel
mostly satisfied that we figured out some names. enjoy!

A bevy of quail

A bouquet of pheasants [when flushed]

A brood of hens

A building of rooks

A cast of hawks [or falcons]

A charm of finches

A colony of penguins

A company of parrots

A congregation of plovers

A cover of coots

A covey of partridges [or grouse or ptarmigans]

A deceit of lapwings

this interesting list of group names was compiled by terry ross.
for more info feel free to visit his site..
alrighty then. we better get going. odies hungry now..
love odie and odie mama.
