  1. Hey O and OM,

Sometimes alone, I sit on the edge of my world and call out a name into the night, only to find darkness swallow the answer that I long to hear and replace it instead with the incomprehensible promise of Silence.

~ The Word of The Silence ~ by ~ Sri Aurobindo ~

A bare impersonal hush is now my mind,
A world of sight clear and inimitable,
A volume of silence by a Godhead signed,
A greatness pure, virgin of will.

Once on its pages Ignorance could write
In a scribble of intellect the blind guess of Time
And cast gleam-messages of ephemeral light,
A food for souls that wander on Nature’s rim.

But now I listen to a greater Word
Born from the mute unseen omniscient Ray:
The Voice that only Silence’ ear has heard
Leaps missioned from an eternal glory of Day.

All turns from a wideness and unbroken peace
To a tumult of joy in a sea of wide release.

Hoping all’s well in the house of O and OM :)

    • Lovely lovely!! As is your newest art that you shared. My phone wouldn’t let me say thank you for it through the blogverse earlier. Good to hear from you today, so that I might let you know. It’s an interesting piece. Rich in the definitive choice of bold color. But also beguiling to the eye. Jam packed with ins and shapes. In a most pleasing way. Lots of mysteries to still be figured out by my eye and mind. Which is why I saved it on my phone so I could look at it throughout the week and see what more was in its creation. Perhaps some of the secrets that lie beneath the hood of your cloak have been imparted.?

All is well on our waterfront. Hopefully the same is true for you.
Please keep sharing more of your extraordinary art.

      O and om.

  2. Hey O and OM,

    Gosh, thank you, thank you!!

Not only was that a mercurially quick reply (how does Odie work phone buttons with his paws anyway? lol) but also wonderfully generous and sincere. Every artist is flattered to have their work viewed with such an enthusiastic and discerning eye…and I am no exception to that delirious ego led pleasure. To say that I am happily charmed by your questioning interest and intrigued by the delineation of the aspects in the image which caught your attention would be to understate your kindness, thank you so much. You have great taste lol

Would you like an original image file, uncompressed by WP…I’d be happy to oblige? :)

Ahh, so you noticed that the hood had been lowered on the horned being, and ask if this is a revealing of the artist beneath the cloak. Hmm, perhaps it is unconsciously so, albeit but one small step towards further identification, but certainly the colours used suggest something far more about the nature of the ‘beast’ than at first I realised. I am sure you find the same with your writing….once underway, it is nigh on impossible not to allow the mind an indulgence of its own and permit a degree of freedom to express itself in the immediacy of the given moment. Consciously or otherwise, it does perhaps seem as though the inner voice wishes to be heard beyond being simply a ghost. We shall see where the next piece goes…it is already on the old drawing board and finding a form all of its own.

I’m very happy to hear all’s well on the waterfront…but certainly hadn’t realised you were living so close to the shore line, how wonderful must that be! No wonder you are so creatively inspired and energetic in your endeavours. Talking of which…how goes the novel? Will you make the publisher’s edit deadline? I’ll keep all crossed that you will…and please let me know when it is jacketed and fit for the bookshelf, i’ll be one of the millions who’ll buy it :)

Sincere thanks for your munificent reply.

Take care y’all and best wishes in all ways as always. Happy Thanksgiving to you both :)

    • Hello hello.
Odie allows me to type on all of the keyboards, buy makes sure to look over my shoulder as I do so. Typos and bad grammar don’t seem to upset him. Which is great for both of us.

We would love a high res image. Please email to our odyssian email. Should be listed in our blog page somewhere.

What is your new art piece in progress about? We are curious. A self portrait perhaps? We highly recommend.

The book won’t be out for some time. We must find an agent. And when I say we I mean I. Odie has no interest in the logistics and publishing aspects or the editing. He only wants to inspire. Which I’m grateful for. He takes the form of an all white cat with green eyes: a girl with white bald spots on her belly that she got after a run in with fate. He approves. I will be blogging frequently about the book as it comes along.
Thank you for your support. And for sharing your art.

      O and om.

  3. Hey hey O and OM,

I think Odie is most generous (as all cats are of course) in guiding and advising you so well, and in making sure you have all that you need by way of comforting and nurturing and attending to your every whim. And with all that going on, is it any wonder he sits back to rest frequently and simply lets his mam get on and do the hard graft of tapping out those delicious words? No doubt he only has to gaze into your eyes to melt your heart…what a guy! :)

Certainly, I am looking forward to hearing more of the process behind your novel being published…I think it will prove an education to us all to learn of the trials and tribulations innate to that challenge. But better still will be the absolute delight for us all when we get to share the wonderful moment of its acceptance and publication with you here on WP! It’ll be a moment long to remember, savour and enjoy :)

You ask about the next piece of blog art I aim to post, and wonder if it is a self-portrait, which you seem to approve of and recommend? Hmm, a self-portrait, now there’s a thought to consider and digest a little more lol

I have two Jpeg files ready to send, but cannot find an email address here on your Blog? If you email me at dewin.nefol@gmail.com it’ll be a pleasure to reply and enclose them both for you.

I’ll leave you both with the words of Wislawa Szymborska to sit and enjoy…

~ The Joy Of Writing ~

Why does this written doe bound through these written woods?
For a drink of written water from a spring
whose surface will xerox her soft muzzle?
Why does she lift her head; does she hear something?
Perched on four slim legs borrowed from the truth,
she pricks up her ears beneath my fingertips.
Silence – this word also rustles across the page
    and parts the boughs
that have sprouted from the word “woods.”

Lying in wait, set to pounce on the blank page,
are letters up to no good,
    clutches of clauses so subordinate
they’ll never let her get away.

Each drop of ink contains a fair supply
of hunters, equipped with squinting eyes behind their sights,
prepared to swarm the sloping pen at any moment,
surround the doe, and slowly aim their guns.

They forget that what’s here isn’t life.
Other laws, black on white, obtain.
The twinkling of an eye will take as long as I say,
and will, if I wish, divide into tiny eternities,
full of bullets stopped in mid-flight.
Not a thing will ever happen unless I say so.
Without my blessing, not a leaf will fall,
not a blade of grass will bend beneath that little hoof’s full stop.

    Is there then a world
where I rule absolutely on fate?
A time I bind with chains of signs?
An existence become endless at my bidding?

    The joy of writing.
    The power of preserving.
    Revenge of a mortal hand.

Until next time…loaf long and prosper :)

    • Thanks.
Odies generous and smart. He says why do all the tedious work we he can come up with the ideas and have me take care of the rest. Wish he’d help me out with spell check though. That’s when he really leaves me to my own devices.
Yes. Self portrait would be very interesting. Might you really do and share one?
I’ll send you my email when I get fully
      functional on a laptop.
      Hugs, and goodnight,
      O and om
Ps. Thank you for the lovely, thoughtful poem.

  4. Hey O and OM,

I think it’s probably true to suggest that only great novel writers are owned by Odie :)

Hmm, a self-portrait…might I post one? I’ll have to think about that as a visual idea…a visual narrative of me in a single image, or set of images? Hmm, I think it’s a great idea for a blog post…

Thanks for the email…i’ll email shortly :)

      • …I must have missed this gentle reminder. Oops…sorry. I imagine you sent others… :)

If it’s not a foolish or obvious question…what are you observing?

        DN – 07/12/2014

      • I’m not sure I understand your question.
My gentle reminder is for you to share a self portrait = depicting the top half of you only.
a ‘below the waist’ joke was implied. Sorry. Was only being funny. You’ve never hinted at any impropriety in your blog. Odie has quite the imagination, however.

        Hugs, O and om.

  5. Hey O and OM,

A vivid imagination is a wonderful thing…and Odie’s imagination must be mind-blowing! How I wish I could slide inside that visionary realm and simply melt away…what learned dreams might be glimpsed, what mysteries revealed. That you get to share his wild imagination must be so exciting ;)

I had a feeling your reminder was putting forth the suggestion of a blog choice…and it is an interesting suggestion, but one that needs to be considered, and worked on as an idea. Out of curiosity, is the header image on the blog not suitable as an adequate stand-in? lol And where might I ask is a figurative portrait of OM on your blog?

We shall see what we shall see when what happens happens lol :)

    DN – 07/12/2014

    • Header image works.
But…. As it doesn’t show your face all u know is that your are a mage. And a man.
Would be interesting if you create another of your ancient paintings with your unveiled face bold and clear.
      Bold and clear.
Yes, I like the sound of that.
Until then you are forcing us to imagine what you look like.
Perhaps a description will suffice until you grow out of your shy shell?
      Hugs, O and om.

      • :) Perhaps this allegedly shy, shell-loving Mage and ancient painter, with the bold, clear face of a man (makes me sound a little bit like a Ninja Turtle lol) enjoys a degree of anonymity in much the same way that others do? For example, where is your image?

I may however relent a little and provide more of a personal perspective on my blog posts, at least until such time that I either have no other excuses left to hide-behind, or I have no other hooded cloaks left to hide in lol. For now, however, perhaps it’s best that you use your wildest imagination to picture me! I’d be fascinated to know what you came up with! Although it’s probably fair to say that the image you conjure up will be more impressive than the reality that is Dewin Nefol :)

        DN – 08/12/2014

      • Hello hello.
Wanted to get back to you and then pressed on through book priorities
Sorry for Kate and meager response.
We will be writing to you soon.
        Hugs, ad infinitum.
        . O and om.
