Space landscapes : the first frontier

Dearest odyssians,

What an amazing universe we live in. What amazing art it inspires. Which one is your fave?

Planet space illustration art: “strange cosmic clouds…and yet stranger dreams”

dearest odyssians,

strange dreams were abound: something about manifest destinies in a crazy-killer-clown-carnival-mad-house at the end of the world… and what do you suppose this message from the gods might be for us odie? i ask and he does not answer.

for once odie is as puzzled as i am… “Yet none did bind us” he says.

which means he widely suggests dispensing with any regressive/trapping thoughts about the past and its less than clear visions/dreams.  his case is compelling.

and goodnight.. yeehaw!

amazing planet photos: the inner beauties

dearest odyssians,

the inner planets

arent they magically beautiful?

mars earth mercury** venus… the inner beauties of our extremely small corner of this grand universe.

amazing planetary landscapes: mercury rising!

dearest odyssians,

This weeks headlines werent (thankfully) all about sewage sloshing down cabin walls and “steamers” dutifully tucked away in red plastic bags on a seastuck cruise ship. (why that made the top of the news on every site – driven by number of clicks no doubt- odie and i have no idea. we missed the human interest element when we heard there was a human excrement interest). other hot-button issues: “bladerunner” shooting his girlfriend. (tragic to the max); and the butt implants that did a 360 with a little hand help. ugh.

In more palatable/strange/happy to be alive news, space took the forefront. The moon tonight looked stunning. it hung low and had a red tinge to it. no anatomy jokes please.then there was The crazy exploding  asteroid in russia that was, well, explosive, and deadly :(   Considering how many perished from that small asteroid we should all be grateful that one hell of an asteroid with an interesting greek? name missed us. how many thought that when they said it skipped contact by 15 minutes they really meant 15 miles.. if the end is coming we all know theyll never tell us. fully informed or not, we survived!

Finally,  and most beautifully, the planet Mercury became more photogenic than ever. behold.. compliments of nasa and its spacecraft Messenger.

mercury side a

mercury b sidethanks nasa for the coolest planet photos ever. now to clarify, this is how the photos were rendered..

The images were created using a mosaic of pictures from Nasa’s messenger spacecraft, which were then combined to create a video ‘flyby’ of the planet

love the blue and orange tints they added. gives the planet such an ethereal beauty.

love O & OM.

O is already sleeping peacefully. i will follow suit shortly. havent really slept great in the past three days. perhaps undercurrents of excitement about never having to go back to my job of the last six months have been keeping me awake?  either way, i will sleep well tonight. as will Odie. hes cuddled inside my winter jacket. he loves it there. perfect blend of downy, structural, light, and sealed shelter…. he knows a good thing when he sits on it.

the rise of the planets

howdy. heres some sci fi planet pics i found while surfing the matrix. enjoy.

rise of a planet. beautiful!
wonderfully imagined shot.
not a real planet, but worth mention. this is a piece of 70s sci fi art. great colors and imagination.
my favorite of the planets. note the flowers growing on the surface. and the little guy looking on. perhaps the little prince?
another jupiter shot. this seems to be a favorite planet for sci fi artists. and i dont blame them. interesting colors and movement on its surface. and its also very large! big enough to hold 1321.3 earths inside!!
great movment. and color.
a tropical kind of sci fi planet view. just needs palm trees and my favorite tiki hut bar: heaven! and breathable air... are those birds in the background? if so...good sign.
another favorite picture i found. notice the creatures eyes glowing in the windows reflection. mysterious... and most certainly not human!
love the view! with jupiter living large in the background. very nice.
a sci fi inspired earth landscape. captivating. like fire and water together.
surprise! our final triple sun planet picture is real! this drawing was rendered by nasa and is of planet hd188753. not a great name, but a great view.
wouldnt it be cool to be here and see this view with your real eyes? the good news is its pretty close, only 149 light years away in this cygnus galaxy. so 5000 years from now with just a quick snap of the fingers and click of your alien spaceship/ dorothy gale slippers you could be there. planet HD blah blah blah is about jupiters size. its in the upper left hand corner. the foreground is an imaginary moon the artist provided to give us the best perspective of the multiple star system effect going on here. rare indeed. excellent!

that concludes our quick spin around our universe both real and imagined. i hope these planets inspired you dream a unique dream tonite.

love odie,

and odie mama.
