desert leopard: stunning namibian fantasy landscapes

dear odyssians,

loving the 80’s style soft focus on this pic above.  ahh the 80’s.

odie found these spectacular pics of a desert leopard crossing the dunes of namibia. a beautiful animal in a beautiful country’s landscape. we couldnt resist. we hope you liked them too.

birds the word. and so is bevy, brood, bouquet…

odie loves birds. not to hunt or to eat. but to admire in all their living
 splendor.
okay...maybe to eat. and mostly just chicken. not really turkey.
so when he asked me why a group of geese is called a gaggle and why a
group of crows
elicits the word "murder", i couldnt tell him and thought it best to
open the
books/internet and do a bit of my own research.
the following blog entry is part one of the unique/complex list
of names
for different bird gatherings plus pics of the birds enjoying each
other in the wild.
we still dont know "the why" as to the unique group names but feel
mostly satisfied that we figured out some names. enjoy!

A bevy of quail

A bouquet of pheasants [when flushed]

A brood of hens

A building of rooks

A cast of hawks [or falcons]

A charm of finches

A colony of penguins

A company of parrots

A congregation of plovers

A cover of coots

A covey of partridges [or grouse or ptarmigans]

A deceit of lapwings

this interesting list of group names was compiled by terry ross.

creature feature part II

ok i know this guy has big teeth and everything, but hes kind of cute. and i like his bright coloration.
id rather bowl with this guy than the big lebowski. his ball lights up!
a cute sci fi creature. sci fi alien caribou.
hes scary. part mantis. part ramshorn sheep. all lightning.
we have creatures in earths deepest oceans that kind of look like this angler alien fish.
this is a tonberry creature. reminds me of an alien ghost from a childreans book. i like that hes curious about his own reflection.
super scary spike creature. does not double as friendly housepet /guarddog even on outerworld planets with acid for oceans.
cave creature. brings out the claustrophobia in everyone---> run. like. hell.
its a gas giant whale type creature. is he air or water based? looks like air...cool.
black and white sci fi creature. with sweet eyes. part bird. part monsoon rat? 35% huggable.
"king of the forest". and king of your nightmares. forest wanderers beware.

i hope you enjoyed my second installment of sci fi creature art. all compliments of the matrix.

goodnite.  hopefully no nightmares.

love odie.

and odie mama.
